You will feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door of our cozy waiting area. Enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee, tea, or cold water while you wait for your appointment. The waiting room is clean and comfortable, and there is a selection of magazines for you to enjoy. Quiet music in the background can help you unwind a little before your session. Karen Pierpoint will come to the waiting room to greet you personally and invite you into her consulting room when your appointment time arrives.
The first visit is a consultation, and an opportunity to decide whether Karen Pierpoint is the right therapist for you. (If it turns out that you may benefit from treatment elsewhere, she will refer you to another clinician.) You will decide together about how often you will need to come in for future appointments.
During the consultation you will be asked questions about your current symptoms, problems, personal history and other information Karen Pierpoint needs in order to best plan for your treatment. These questions may be personal and uncomfortable to talk about or cause discomfort in some people. Plan to be as open as possible. It will save you and Karen Pierpoint a lot of time in making progress with your therapy. She can be trusted to abide by the confidentiality agreement that you will sign during the visit.
Unless it is a family session, do not bring children to the consultation, as there is no childcare in the waiting area, and you will not be able to answer questions as completely if your children are present in the session.
Please click on the Client Forms to download the forms you will need to fill out in order for therapy to begin. Make sure that you click on the "HIPPA Patient Privacy Notification" as well as the "Receipt of Patient Privacy Notification." Karen Pierpoint is required by Federal law to obtain your signature regarding that document.
Bring these forms with you on your first visit, even if you have not yet taken the time to complete them. You can complete them in the waiting room before your first session, or you can use part of your first session to complete them so that therapy can begin.
